Libby Howell
Senior Catchment Officer – Science and PartnershipsLibby has worked across environmental science, landscape-scale nature recovery and education throughout her career. She previously worked within Kew’s Science Directorate as part of the Nature Unlocked team, a landscape ecology programme, partnering across Sussex. Much of this work involved researching the foundations to develop the idea of landscapes as living laboratories that bring together research, land managers, policy and communities.
Rivers and water have been a consistent thread through Libby’s work. With a background in Physical Geography and a long-standing interest in how water shapes landscapes and the communities around them, she is excited to focus more fully on river protection and restoration, and building reliable data to help us to support healthier catchments for both nature and people.
Outside of work, Libby is a keen fungi and plant enthusiast, gardener and passionate about connecting people with the natural environment. Especially with inspiring the next generation to consider careers in environmental science and nature restoration.
