The Monitoring & Evidence Team provides the data, evidence and insight that helps shape and demonstrate the impact of our work.
We design and deliver monitoring programmes across our catchments, turning data into meaningful insights that inform decisions, guide action and measure change.
Through citizen science, spatial analysis and applied research, we evaluate the effectiveness of our work and that of our partners, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure resources are directed where they can achieve the greatest benefit for rivers and communities.

Invertebrate sampling
Riverfly monitoring collects samples of invertebrate from the river bed to identify indicator species and their abundance to indicate water quality and river health.

Water quality testing
We test for a variety of indicators of river health including nutrients, pollutants and oxygen levels.

Evironmental DNA sampling
By sampling eDNA we can identify species present within a section of river without even seeing or catching individuals.
